Naomi Watts

 

Naomi Ellen Watts (born 28 September 1968) is a British actress. Following the move of her family to Australia in the early 1980s, Watts made her debut with For Love Alone (1986). Then she appeared in three TV series: Hey Dad.. (1990) The Brides of Christ(91), as well as Home and Away (91) and Flirting (1991). After having moved to the United States, Watts initially struggled to become an actress, performing in small-scale movies until she was a part of David Lynch's psychological thriller Mulholland Drive in 2001 as an aspiring actress. The role was the catalyst for her rise to international fame. Watts played the part of the journalist who is depressed in The Ring, a horror film that was made into a remake. Her performance as an emotional mother in Alejandro's 21 Grams (2003) was nominated for an Academy Award. Her profile continued to grow by playing starring roles in I Heart Huckabees (2004), King Kong (2005), Eastern Promises (2007) as well as The International (2009). Watts was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in The Impossible (2012) as Maria Bennett. In the decade of 2010 she appeared in films as Birdman (2014) St. Vincent (2014), While We're Young (2015), The Glass Castle (2017) as well as Luce (2019). Watts continued her acting career through major roles in blockbusters, including Divergent (2015-2016).
