Emily Irene VanCamp initially aspired to become a professional actor However, she was enticed when she visited Katie in the Ladies Room film set. She began to take acting classes. She also got appearances on television shows in her native Canada. She starred as a guest on several shows in Are You Scared Of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp's career exploded after being cast for the part of Sam Dolan, a regular in the series WB Horror Mystery Glory Days. Even even though the show received great reviews, it unfortunately was cancelled after just nine episodes because of its low ratings. In fact the May 12 1986 actress from the United States was quick to secure another role on Everwood as one of its principal actors Amy Abbott. Her part in the movie was rewarded with the film four Teen Choice Awards nominations and the Young Artist Award.
